Saltie Hair Type Guide

Figuring out your hair type can be frustrating and enlightening, all at the same time. Once you get there, congratulations. Now you have to find the best way to care for your unique hair type.

What's your type?

Straight/Type1: No matter if your straight hair is fine or thick this texture has a tendency to be silky and sometimes difficult to hold curl. You do not want to weigh your hair down with the use of conditioners in shower. A leave-in conditioner, like our Detangle & Shine Leave-In  gives a lightweight spritz of hydration without the weight.

Slight Texture/Type 2: This hair texture can be frizzy and sometimes unruly. With a little extra TLC in the shower you should be dealing with a much tamer canvas. Apply a hair mask like our Deep Moisture Hair Mask once a week. Avoid putting mask above your ears. You want to keep conditioners and hair masks in the areas they are needed most and your scalp is NOT one of those areas.

Wavy/Type 3: Wavy texture can be a unicorn of a texture. Easily straightened but best when natural and free to well, wave! You need hydration so don't skip the Sea Kelp Daily Hair Conditioner in shower. Air drying can give wavy texture life. When hair is 80% dry spritz our Sea Salt Texturizing Spray all over (flip head upside down for max volume). Your waves will be beach-perfect.

Curly/Type 4: Curly hair needs to be washed less than other textures. Curly girls know their texture gets better with time. When you do wash establishing a routine can help create the consistent curls of your dreams. We recommend using the Deep Moisture Hair Mask every wash. Leaving this on for 10 minutes will deeply penetrate the hair shaft. Next, apply our Detangle & Shine Leave-In  to give an extra dose of hydration before styling.

To minimize frizz apply the Sea Salt Texturizing Spray to wet hair and scrunch it gently with your hands. This will encourage the hair to settle more deeply into its natural curl pattern as ti dries. The salt helps to add texture and grip, making the curl appear less frizzy, tighter and more defined.
